English Translation of Al-Quran
[12].Surah Yusuf [Joseph]
Ayat 78. They said: "O ruler of the land! Verily, he has an old father (who will grieve for him); so take one of us in his place. Indeed we think that you are one of the Muhsinun (good-doers)."
Ayat 79. He said: "Allah forbid, that we should take anyone but him with whom we found our property. Indeed (if we did so), we should be Zalimun (wrong-doers)."
Tafseer of Surah Yusuf (PBUH) Ayat 78 & 79. They said: "O exalted one! Behold! he has a father, aged and venerable, (who will grieve for him); so take one of us in his place; for we see that thou art (gracious) in doing good." I have translated the tide of 'Aziz here as "the exalted one" when addressed to Joseph in order not to cause confusion with the other man, the 'Aziz, the Courtier, who had bought Joseph on arrival in Egypt . 79. He said: "(Allah) forbid that we take other than him with whom we found our property: indeed (if we did so), we should be acting wrongfully. There is a little sparring now between the Ten and Joseph. They are afraid of meeting their father's wrath, and he holds them strictly to the bargain which they had themselves suggested.

English Translation of Hadith
Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr bin Al Aas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported that he heard Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) as saying: Verily, the hearts of all the sons of Adam are between the two fingers out of the fingers of the Compassionate Lord as one heart. He turns that to any (direction) He likes. Then Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said : "0 Allah, the Turner of the hearts, turn our hearts to Thine obedience". [Muslim Book 33, Chapter 03, Hadith # 6418].
